I figured rather than check what times magazines get (because they're usually bad) I'd check here instead. So what times usually to LS1 GTOs trap with 6 speed transmissions? (Or should I call it an M6?) Anyhow, tell me what you guys have seen.

mid to high 13's. High 13's being the norm. Their trap speed is a little slower than an f-body, so figure around 105mph for the norm. Of course, it can very a few mph either way. And yes, it's referred to as M6 for the 6-speed.

I guess that's still pretty quick, but I kind of thought they were faster. So you say an f-body would be even faster? Hmm. I guess the beauty in them is that they both have so much displacement that you can make them a ton faster with great ease.

Its heavier than an F body which is a mid to low 13s car.

But then again it has more room.

IMO GTO>F bodies

but its a proven fact that the G8>GTO thus the G8>*

from what ive seen and read f body>gto it cant fit nearly as wide tires out back, traction is the gto's worst enemy. I think I read 285 is all that fits out back without quite a bit of work. I'll wait for one of the gto owners/ex owners to chime in and confirm this.

The tire thing is true. However, I'd still take the GTO over the f-body for a street car. You can't compare the two in terms of build quality (i'm an ex-GTO and two time ex-F-body owner.)

I would suggest an LS2 GTO if possible. They aren't that much more expensive than the LS1s if you're looking to buy and they're a good 3-5 tenths faster, aside from looking better (IMO) and having some improved parts over the '04s.

I completely know what you're talking about, its hands down a better fit and finish. Ls2s ftw if you have to get a gto

I was bummed about the tire thing when I learned about it. Infact, I can't remember if I read it from one of you gto owners here or on another forum.

Also sorry that happened to the vette, glad it wasn't real bad (sounds like it wasn't), I am however curious what the kids excuse for nailing you was lol. Share?

Dynoed it yesterday and only made it to 5800 RPM's before it ran out of fuel. Installing a boost a pump and doing a line mod. Even at only 5800 RPM's and just 10 PSI it made 520/460 through a non lock up auto with 93 octane

Nice. I would like to one day add a procharger kit, or an aps kit to my car. What injectors and fuel pump(s) are you running?

Thanks for the quality info. I've had the GTO on my list of potential next cars for a while. Wouldn't be able to afford an LS2, but it'd be for DD purposes mostly. V8, RWD, independent rear suspension, kind of hard to pass up, plus for some reason they're extremely inexpensive. I guess it's because the LS2 version came out so soon after the GTO was introduced? Depreciation can't be THAT hard on a car without some demand-related issues. But anyhow, thanks again for the info guys.
