Strikerflo - 2008 Redline Street FWD Champion!

I thought I'd share our press release from my 2008 Championship-Winning Season. Overall, I'm pretty excited about it. I still feel as though I've got a long way to go, but I figure this is a decent start. I've been driving for a few years now, but this is only my second year of driving multiple events. Usually, I keep a pretty low-key attitude about a lot of this stuff, but I had to share

I've got a huge ton of pics from this year's season (see below). It's been quite a year, and it still feels like yesterday that I was just getting ready for the season (and feeling incredibly nervous).

Now that it's all done, the scrambling for sponsorships and building the car begins, and that's probably just as nerve-wracking as the actual season. Actually, I'd go out on a limb and say that's the toughest part.

Everyone on here has been incredibly helpful and so darn supportive ever since I started, and I can't express how much I appreciate that.

I'm just super happy to be representing for all the DC5s out there!

As the 2008 Redline Time Attack Series season came to a close this past weekend, champions were crowned. GT Motoring was among those claiming one such prestigious title as Michael Ostby and his Acura RSX were crowned the 2008 Front Wheel Drive Street Class Champion.

Ostby and GT Motoring’s RSX went undefeated in all three of its events while making history at each race. In St. Louis, Ostby broke his old Street Class FWD lap record clocked in 2007 during GT Motoring’s Time Attack debut. Even more notable was the fact that his lap time in Street Class was the fastest FWD lap for the entire weekend besting both Modified and Unlimited FWD lap times while on street tires. In Nashville, the GT Motoring RSX was the first FWD car to be crowned the Overall Street Class Champion beating all RWD and AWD entrants. At Summit Point, Ostby shattered the previous Street Class FWD lap record by over five seconds.

“Without Greg and Jae at GT Motoring, this wouldn’t have happened. I’m still learning tons of new things every time I get in the car and they’ve been with me every step of the way, always helping to be even faster. I don’t know what could be better than having your best friends out there with you on the track and under the car at the shop, supporting you at all times. They’ve made this an incredibly worthwhile experience,” Ostby explained. “Seeing them along with our sponsors and suppliers place their confidence in me, a largely unproven driver, means a lot. I’m very happy to be able to reward them with such positive results.”

Contributing largely to GT Motoring’s dominance was Bridgestone, whose ultimate street performance Potenza RE-01R compound allowed GT Motoring’s RSX to grip to the top of the timing sheets at every event. Mounted to a set of rock-solid, yet lightweight Enkei RPF-1 racing wheels, this proved to be a consistent foundation. Throw into the mix a plethora of parts from Osaka tuner shop, J’s Racing incorporating suspension components, drivetrain, rotors, and an effective aerodynamic package along with brakes from Cobalt Friction and the GT Motoring RSX had a winning formula on its hands.

“Last year we spent most of our seat time at HPDE (high performance driving education) events getting a consistent feel and understanding of what would make our cars better. Once both Michael and I felt confident in stringing together fast laps on command, we decided to throw our hats into the time attack arena,” GT Motoring’s President and driver Gregory Haye said.

“We’re still a growing company,” Vice-President Jaewoo Kim stated. “So all of our revenue is reinvested in the company. Therefore the funding of our racing initiatives is completely out-of-pocket.”

“Because of that, our engineering, testing and tuning were all carried out during the weekend of time attack events,” Haye added. “Our sponsors and suppliers were crucial from the standpoint that they stretched our funding and technical capabilities a lot further.”

“Another crucial aspect is the very tight synergy between every single one of us on the team. Between Greg, Mike, myself and our tech Nick, we all really fed off of each other and we never stopped having fun, even in some of the toughest conditions,” Kim explained. “Our drivers, Greg and Michael are both very disciplined and have an open mind, which is important to a drivers’ development. Both have lots of potential and I’ve enjoyed helping them.”

Gregory Haye’s debut season was not without some impressive results either. Despite only competing in two events for 2008, he and his Honda S2000 were able to secure 3rd Place in the Street Class Rear Wheel Drive season championship. In addition to his accomplishments behind the wheel, GT Motoring’s President Greg was also an instrumental factor along with Vice-President Jaewoo Kim in developing both the RSX and S2000 platform. Like their RSX, GT Motoring’s S2000 is no horsepower heavyweight, but was heavily fortified by the same proven Enkei/Bridgestone wheel and tire combination.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...o/RDTK0801.jpg

As winter approaches, GT Motoring will have its hands full as they aim to prepare both its RSX and S2000 with the intention of bringing even better results for the company, its sponsors and its suppliers in the 2009 season.

GT Motoring is a suburban Chicago-based high-end automotive performance shop, partnered with some of the most recognizable names in the import tuning industry. In only its second year of business, the company has quickly established itself as one of the fastest growing suppliers/distributors of top-quality performance parts for Honda, Acura, Mitsubishi, Subaru, Nissan, BMW, Porsche and many other automotive manufacturers.

“Next year is going to be a defining year for us,” Haye stated. “We’ll be incorporating additional sponsors and we look to really step things up, including a jump to the Modified Class for hopefully both cars. The increased commitment for two race cars isn’t going to be an easy task, so we’re eager to draw on our current and future sponsors to really help deliver some big results for everyone involved.”

“We’ve already progressed so much from just being a few guys under a car on some jack-stands. As far as the learning curve is concerned, we’ve only hit the tip of the iceberg,” Ostby commented. “The Redline Time Attack series provides us with a phenomenal way to spend a weekend. We’re really anxious to clock even faster laps and see what the new season holds in store for us. I can’t wait to share the track with all our friends again next year.”

On behalf of drivers Greg, Michael and race management and tuning spearheaded by tuner extraordinaire, Jaewoo Kim, GT Motoring wholeheartedly thanks all of their sponsors and suppliers for their support, as well as their fellow competitors and the Redline Time Attack management and staff.
