75W-90 or 80W-90 are fine. Typically use Neo Syn. or Redline. Different fluids yield different results based on their formulas with friction modifiers.

I have a Quaife.. it's ok but not great.

I would like to move to an OS Giken. Oil, I'm just using Redline MTL. Does different thickness or friction modifiers affect how/when the clutch type LSD lock or something?

AKA like synchromesh some how is too slippery for clutch type and has delayed locking and LSD locks harder and doesn't work as smooth or something.
(dunno if what I said above is true, just made shit up as an example)

i have factory itr lsd and i just run honda oem mtf. i was taught that transmissions require certain oem additivies that may not be found in aftermarket mtf so i just stuck with oem honda mtf.

Todd is an unknown quantity on c-rsx
I now believe that OEM or GM Synchromesh are the only two you should use.
Redline flat out did not work for me on the track. It worked fine for street use.

I was about to open the same thriead...

I have the ATS D20 LSD. It has 20 discs. This thing is freaking smooth. I finally know what LSD shatter sounds like...

The feeling is very different and the lsd is very quick. I like how it is softer on the drivetrain when accelerating and decelerating.

For now Im using Royal Purple 90 which claims to contain LSD lubricant. I only have like 3 miles on this thing... will review later.

Still looking for info on experienced LSD clutch type.

I run Kaaz Fluid with my Kaaz LSD. It seems to do the trick.
I track the car monthly in Time Trials and change the fluid after ever 2nd oil change or every 2 events. Which ever comes first.

Todd and Coredump, we're talking about Clutch type slips not helical.

jmercado567, I've the same lsd. I recommend Redline or Neo. I've tested Redline, Neo Synthetic, and ATS's own fluid. They all felt about the same, though I prefer Neo Syn based on availability, cost, and performance. They have two types, go with the cheaper. At our level we don't need the super heavy duty stuff. Haha, "smooth"? Clacking around a parking lot isn't my idea of smooth, haha.

i plan to run Kaaz fluid after i install my J's racing LSD, but definitely Castrol for the break in period.

Ray at Kaaz is very helpful, he adjusted the clutch plates so i dont get too much chatter as I daily my car free of charge and also answered all the questions that i had

Hey bluewind, cool. your right the clacking scares people and I dont have to let them know Im comming.. ha ha.

The smoothness I speak of is that when compared to gear lsd there is that slight initial glide to grip. I love that feel.

also if you roll to a turn while decelerating the claking can somewhat be avoided.

This thing is just pure excitement. turn accelerate, lock and go! not stupid wheel spin... especially with the power I am running.

What is the difference you find with the other fluids?

Either it's at that quality level of oil, or the limited level at which I was driving, but I couldn't feel a noticable difference between the 3. I go with Neo Syn or Redline based on the mentioned above reasons of affordability, availability, and performance. ATS is just far too expensive and hard to source. In the end it's one's user preferences. Experiment and find if you can feel a difference and use whichever works best for you. It's all good fun!

Yea.

It sounds horrible and isn't comfortable, but it's not detrimental.

for those who plan to daily a 1.5 way clutch i would recommend adjusting the plates to lock at 60% rather than 100% it should make daily driving much more bearable/comfortable and reduce the chatter sound/noises significantly, and maybe also prolong the intervals of rebuilds.

from what ive heard especially on turns at low speeds (eg. navigating through a parking lot at a grocery store) you get loud chatter sounds coming from the tranny, similar to the symptoms of a torn cv boot
