Track guys,

I want to upgrade my front brakes and I am stomped with getting a 4 pot wilwood kit with no crossdrilled or with the cross drilling.

Are these kits track worthy? or just bling wanna be? Will they actually brake better? Will they resist heat better than the stock with vents?

disregarding the brake bias issue that may come up if these are definitely stronger than stock. that is something I will need to deal with later.

Has anyone here ran these on the track?

Thanks

Jose, I have heard that the Wilwood calipers actually undergo quite a bit of flexing. There are only a few companies I'd put on for brakes (Brembo, AP Racing, Performance Friction to name some)

Budget wise looks like brembo R calipers.

Everythign else is way too expensive for now. This stuff adds up really fast. Just sick.

Some pictures from last season at Monticello Motor Club in New York. The car was way under sprung and I was still running stock brake lines and rear swaybar. Although the setup was terrible the car still felt really really good. Im excited to see what the new spring rates, rear bar, and delrin bushings do for me this season...

i installed todd's caster plates and it is great! the car feels so much better, i actually never tracked it without them but i did do some autocrossing and it definitely makes a huge difference. i would recommend them to anybody who tracks their car.

Yeah well that whole "you CANT run your car lower than 1.5" is bullshit. Im sorry but it just is. When proper changes are made to spring rates and simple geometry (roll center adjusters and tie rod angle correction) there is very little to no difference in how the car behaves, other than that the COG is lower.

You cant tune a chassis with only knowlege taken out of books. There needs to be real life testing on the track, and trust me, even with that much roll the car handled great. A couple passengers Ive had in the car including my boss who drove with Tom Long in the Davis Acura RSX's said its surprising how well it handles and how neutral it is.

With the new setup, the bad effects from being low (slight fender rub, loss of front camber) will be gone.

preaching to the choir lol. as long as tuning is done with a drive then tune basis and you see positive results from your changes then more power to you. are you still working at that tuning shop up north?

also how did you address the limited travel? i had konis all around, but i plan on rebuilding the suspension and after i graduate, get job, and acquire a second vehicle. doing more research again.

Yup Im still at the race shop and learning exponentially. Ive been on chassis setup and design as well as fabrication for almost 2 years. Ive acquired so much knowlege since I started its crazy.

In regards to travel, my dampers are designed pretty well for an OTS setup. At my ride hight Ive got almost full travel which is 4". I can only get my car to be about 1/4" higher before the shocks are fully extended. In other words the coilovers were designed to ride low. They are branded by FEEL's, But the are made by Arogosta and assembled/distributed by AST suspension, so they are of racing pedigree.

I just sent them to AST USA to get revalved for 750lbs f and 1000lbs r. I originally wanted to do 650lbs up front but so far i cant find a used set in that rate in the size I need. I already had a set of 750's so Im just going to see how that works. I cant justify spending $140 on two new springs.
