how common are the 3rd gear pop out/2nd grind trans issues?

im about to buy an 02 type s with 62k...the trans issue the the only thing worrying me...does anyone know a % of these vehicles that do have this issue?

a LOT do..I just took my car in to acura a few days ago..they changed my manual trans fluid (free because i still have some warranty left) and I've yet to have the problem again...change yout MT fluid and you be okay.

huge problem with RSX-S/Civic Si's trannys..it made the news in cali

ya its extremely common. i dont know a percentage but its high up there

Agree with above post. I changed transmission fluid to royal purple as well as replace OEM mounts with Innovative mounts. Haven't a grind/popout since.

trans fluid doesnt fix the problem, just alleviates it. i had 3rd gear pop out, switched over to royal purple mtf, had no problems for 5,000 miles then my 2nd gear started gridning/popping out so bad to the point where i wish i had 3rd gear pop out instead lol

ive gone ahead and bought the car...they offered me an extended warranty (another $30/mo)...hopefully that should give me some peace of mind
