05-06 CRSX (Spyder) Fog Lights (Yellow Housing) DIY

I want to start this thread for those who have or just bought the fog lights from crsx (Spyder). Before all of you start bashing me, I only have minimal amount of wiring experience and I did do extensive research before posting this thread and I hope this will help not only me, but the rest of the fellow members.

Ok, So I just received my fog lights from crsx today (pictures are below) and immediately after opening the package, I noticed one of the brackets to hold the fogs were identical, which needs to be opposite for driver-side and passenger-side fog lights. So I'm hoping I could get this resolved tomorrow with CRSX.

Besides the bracket issue, I want to ask fellow members who have installed the fog lights already where each wire goes for the switch harness as well as the fog light harness. I know many have had problems with other ebay harnesses but this is specifically for the crsx (spyder) fog lights.

Package:

Fog Light Harness:

Where does the indicated question mark connector go to?

Switch Harness:

Correct me if I'm wrong about each indication of where it suppose to connect to for the switch harness:

#1 - connects to fuse box
#2 - connects to brown connector with the blue tape around it.
#3 - needs to be connected to a power source (cigarette light)
#4 - connects to switch
#5 - ground
#6 - connects to relay

I want to install the switch so that I don't have to tap in the parking lights. I know many have done it through that way but I would like to control it separately. I also realize that the aftermarket switch is not as great as the oem, so I will most likely switch it, but at the mean time I want to install it as is.

Please provide pictures if you have any (each connection). I will be trying to figure out myself meanwhile and will be updating with pictures of what my progress is and hopefully after I have installed the fog lights, I will have all instructions (in detail with pictures) of the install.

I appreciate all the assistance. Thank you.

Right! The white connect will not fit to the brown plug. But thats exactly where it goes. I just took the white connector out and plug it in with electric tape for now.. lol..

I'll give that a try, and which wire on the cigarette light is the power source that #3(on the switch harness) needs to connect to?

I had to add my own wire to the red wire so it can reach the cigarette wire which you have to pop it out..

I don't. once you pop it out, there should be only two wires connected to the lighter. the red one is obviously the power.

I took off the extra connector from #1 and put it on the wire that goes on the brown coneector in the engine bay it should go right in. #3 I took the clamp red thing off and put a female end on it and put it on the first prong where there are 3 in a row 1st being right to left. hope this helps. the 3 prong should be below and to the left a little of #1 connector.

1) b005t3drsx - So I called Spyder during my lunch break. This was what I got.

Called about 3 times and holding on the phone for about 10 minutes each time... I finally get to a sales representative who transferred me to a service representative. I explained the situation to the service guy and he told me that I need to deal with the retailer (CRSX) and have CRSX file an RMA instead of directly handling it with them (Spyder).

So I called CRSX back and asked one of the rep to do an RMA for me and CRSX will keep me updated on the status of the RMA. I asked if this problem ever came up and the rep told me this was the first time he encountered it as well, so I'm guessing it is only one time thing and I happened to be the unlucky one.

Now I'm waiting for CRSX to help me resolve the situation.

2) Credit to STINKY_DC5 and rest of the members who posted on this thread who helped me out on wiring the harness.

So I was finally able to see my bright yellow fog light turn on.. This was the steps that I took.

a) First you must detach the white plug on your fog light harness from the actual wire. Then you must take the extra plug that comes from #1 (switch harness) from the picture above and attach it with the wire on the fog light harness so it will be able to connect to the stock fog light connection.

b) Connect the Relay and Switch to the switch harness

c) This step is where most people have the most trouble I believe. receiving some advice from STINKY_DC5, I went to autozone and bought some female connectors to attach to the red connector(#3 on the switch harness) for the power source.

d) Now attach each plug as indicated with the #'s. For the female connector (#3), there is 3 prongs directly to the left of #1 - connect the #3 to the very first prong on the right [- - (-)]

This is how far I got and the fog lights/switch works fine. The only required to turn on the fog is switching to parking lights/low beam/high beam.

I will post more pictures later when I run the harness and get my brackets in so I can install it on my bumper.

I hope this would help, please let me know if you got any questions.

Whats that brown plug actually for? The one near the windshield reservoir? Is that pretty much a direct connection to the parking light?

thanks for the step by step install and pics! First threads that actually makes sense on a foglight install, plz keep it coming with the pics and until u get ur lights up and running. Do u know if the switch stays lit even without turning the fogs on? And how is the red illumination of the switch compared to the interior of the car. Thanks again

Np. I had to send back my entire kit so Spyder can replace me a new kit because of the bracket issue, so I'm waiting on that. I will post up the full install with pics once I get the kit in.

As for the switch, It is green.... and its dim when the fogs are off and brighter when you turn them on. I would suggest getting the oem switch because when I tried to install it next to my moonroof switch it gets stuck everytime click it (turn it on). So I will most likely replace it with the oem.
