No, it's not necessary. A tune would be to maximize those gains.

This statements means you are implying that you actually get gains out of a shorty. . .

Sicky,

Your implication is childlike and malicious to my sale thread. I don't need a know it all kid trying to show off what little he knows. I do not sell things with the intent to trick people. I have been around with the K20 motor since the beginning and have experienced products with dyno results that you and many others now take for granted.

People interested in this header piece would be purchasing it for its legality and no hassle from California and local law enforcement alike with mild gains for the price. The DC short 4-1 header is pretty much your only option regarding CARB legal headers. Even with that said, not all DC short 4-1 headers have the CARB legal badge to make them legal. People wanting max gains should gravitate toward a race header. However, that easily puts them in trouble with police and emissions testing without a catalytic converter. Many do not want to take that risk with the law nor want to go through the effort of replacing the parts when come time of emissions testing.

I would be willing to bet that
1. I am older than you
2. I've been around the Honda game longer than you
3. profit?????

Also, you still never stated if any gains were made with this header. . . The only good thing this header could be used for would be to connect it with a race-pipe that excluded the CAT. Furthermore, I lived and drove Honda's in CA for 28yrs, so I know all about the smog laws out there. . .
