Helmet

Well since I hit 13.9 last year with only 6 try's and my first time at the track ever. i'm going to need a helmet this year. for the 1/4 at Cayuga and Sparta what is required for the helmet? what rating? Also is the the same rating for auto x or lapping events at mosport?

you dont need a helmet in lapping unless u have a convertible. U dont have to have a helmet for 1/4 do you? I thought the safety measurements only applied to cars running under 10s

yea for the 1/4 its under 14.0 you need a helmet, and under 12.0 you need a roll cage

tires are Potenza Re-11 225/50/16... only on the front this year when i go back all 4 will be on, i didn't want to go more then 6 times because my car has 130 on stock clutch, didn't want to ruin that, and i grinded twice so after the second grinding i quit. rebuild the tranny and throw on the rbc and adjust tune, hopefully i can lower the time alil more.

So does anyone know what rating i need? aren't they rated by snell or somthing like that?

I got my helmet there, a bit far, but I think it's worth the drive.

You should double check which ratings are required for whatever class you're driving in, or future competitions you want to enter; but one that is SNELL approved should be good

How do you like the re-11s btw? What did you run before those?

Make sure you buy a fireproof helmet (ie. one designed for cars not motorcycles).

I like my OMP a lot!, I bought it from Kensai. It was ~$600, but my head is worth a lot more IMO

personally i dont think an SA rated helmet is required for lapping/drag.. unless the racing sport you're doing required you to do full fire retardant suit there's no need for a fire retardant helmet..
