OMG Bypass valve again

Man guys i dont know what it is lately but is seems like every time i fix an issue with my car something else fails. My first bypass valve failed when the rod seperated from the diaphram so i had it replaced.Lately i was having real bad fuel milage and varying boost levels and a/f problems. My o2 sensor died so i relaced it and thought that might have been the issue.Well i still had the issues and dove into the car to track down the problem. So i put a vacuum tool on my top manifold line that goes to the map sensor and got -25,then i put it on the line off the manifold that goes to the bypass and got -25.Finally i put it on the bypass valve and guess what after about half a second the vacuum falls off so this is the second one that went to shit. What is making these fail and is their a better one that i can replace the stock one with? Also how much are these cause my last one was replaced when i had the blower ported and rebuilt so i dont know how much i paid for it.Im sure its real pricey from comptech so is their another place i can get it from besides them? Thanks for any info.

I'd be curious to see how much vacuum you're making that could cause the diaphragm to fail. -25 psi... kPa? What are the units? I'm assuming kPa since I think -25 psi would be impossible.

Also, I'm not to sure about the Comptech, but the JRSC is calibrated from the factory. If you mess with the position of the actuator, you'll change the dynamics of the recirc valve closing.

Sorry .. probably not many answers.

im not sure what the units were it was on a handheld tester my friend has with the car off to check the manifold for leaks and to see if the valve would hold vacuum.i'm done with this blower anyway so i guess its not a big deal,im planning on putting the bigger twinscrew on that a few other guys are now running.

For those thinking about the CT conversion.. Its not going to happen from me. Too expensive labor and CNC parts wise and parts wise to make.
There is an overlap of bolts that is not easily overcome and a custom cnc part needs to be made. Once done the charger sits at almost the same angle as the JR.

Making the proper cooler is a labor intensive job as well. More labor more money. Financially it just does not add up. The JR conversion is much easier and cheaper.

One possible option is to modify the manifold to overcome the bolts overlap issue but could still cost some bucks. as the manifold will need to be sent to a cnc shop after its modified to be flattened for a proper seal.

The a/f problems were cause by the bad bypass valve causing boost levels to not be constant

Smile

Magnusonproducts.com sells these bypass valves for only $34.50.
part#45-01-41-101 ACTUATOR 4th RIGHT PORT UP $30.00
#45-00-04-001 S/A ACTUATOR HARDWARE 4th GEN WITH ORFICE $4.50
Just tell them you need an actuator bypass valve for a m62 supercharger.
I bought two of these just in case , its been a year on the first one I ordered
and so far no problems.
