(Soon to be) 6-speed base crew advice

I made a new thread so I can get the attention of the 6-speed base crew who can give me some expert input.

I am close to picking up a 05 6-speed transmission from a 05 type-s; $700 SHIPPED
I just need some input to see if this is a good price or worth the effort?

-Also wanted to ask what aftermarket clutch/flywheel should I stick to? Competition, ATC or Exedy? I think I should be fine with a stage 2, budget would be $300-ish ( still need to do a bit more research though)

Here are the details about the transmission:

2005 Acura RSX type S 6 speed manual transmission. This transmission was removed from a customer car who purchased a new transmission because this one had difficulty shifting int 2nd gear. I saved it from going to the core man (for scrap) and replaced the 2nd gearset.

VIN JH4DC53025S010704

Replaced parts with part numbers:
2nd Gearset 23432-PNS-315
Bearing 91002-RAS-003
Bearing 91004-PPP-014

Will include 2 new axle seals part numbers (installed)
91206-PHR-003
91205-PL3-B01

Will also include new crush washers, new tube of HondaBond and new can of Ultraflange

Comes with all sensors and bolts, oem brackets and shifter mechanisim, drain and fill plugs, clutch release fork. In other words its a complete 6 speed manual transmission for a k20Z1.

The transmission has not been installed or driven on since the gearset replacement. It shifts into all gears ok on workbench. The transmission was removed from the customer vehicle with 65,190 miles.

Price and tranny condition sounds great, is this from a member or a shop?

As for clutch I would go with the CC 1.5 with 11.5 flywheel combo. If you plan to stay all motor as a 200whp base crew this would be an awesome setup.

I would also get the mtec race spring/pivot ball upgrade while the tranny is out. Also get some crsx metal tranny/shifter bushings.

-Its a member who works @ Honda.
-I already have the mtec race spring, and Hybrid Racing shifter bushings and JTC customs SS
- I wish I had the extra $ for a LSD but it would cost me 700 for lsd and more to install it, not worth it in my case

where are u getting these numbers from? Quaife and Wavetrac LSD are around $800 bucks and there would be no point getting a OEM K20z3 or K20a LSD...That 2 hour labor would be around another $200... Honestly I wish I had that kind of $$

I wish I could boost but there is way too much potential problems I could face so I'll stay N/A for now. I wouldnt go through the effort and put a oem LSD thats just me.

Yeah that's a good price and idea do it...

You should go with a CC 1.5 or stg2 and a street light flywheel 11.5,12lb nothing lighter.

As for a Oem LSD it's worth it but of corse a quaife would be better but it cost more..

I have not thought about the installation just yet. I have yet to decide and order my clutch and flywheel. I could get it done at a family friend's shop (prob going to do it here cause of lift) or do the swap myself with a friend.

I am in no rush for the transmission, Next week in spring break so it would be perfect but I still have to find the clutch and flywheel somewhere since CRSX doesnt have the stage 1.5 in stock...

Know any local stores?

Gotta be honest .... if you can somehow save up the money and find a used good condition even OEM LSD, it will be WELL worth it. The car will handle SOOO much better. You will feel much less resistance going around turns, the steering wheel will not fight you.

The gearing of the 5-speed is God-awful.

The transmission swap is around the corner. I bought a Competition stage 2 clutch and flyweel and all the Honda MTF I need. Now I am reading up on the service manual to see installation and removal.

I read from another thread and I read:
"You might as well change the Clutch master Cylinder with this...

http://www.kseriesparts.com/cr/HON-46920-S5A-G06.html

and for the slave, this one...

http://www.kseriesparts.com/cr/HON-46930-S6M-003.html

it has a different part # than the 05-06 5-speed slave"

I was not sure if I should go with replacing those parts or just stick with my base ones. Also I noticed that the bolt locations for the transmission are in a different location from the 5-speed and the 6-speed, will there be any problems with that? I made sure to get the same gen tranny (K20z1)
