Trannies interchangable for k series?

I was just curious whether trannies are interchangeable among all K series engines...

I am 99.9% positive that the TSX tranny does not bolt up. I am uncertain about others, but that magnesium case was really interesting.

would it be possible just to swap internal tranny parts and use the TSX's magnesium case?

no, the internal parts are not the problem. The case is the item that bolts to the block. Swap the block and the tranny, and you are in business!

again, only 99% certain

the "case" of the trans mission is called the bell housing....but anyways, im 99% sure that the all the K series transmissions are interchangable with custom mounting kits.

This has been discussed...

Check edo's post; the mounting is different. I trust he is correct.

either way,

theres always a way to get it to fit. i never thought i would see the day a 96' civic HB would have our engines, or even more bizzare a JDM spec DC5-R K20A.

freaky but its true!

There's not much you can do to modify magnesium. If you drill it it will explode! Much easier to shoehorn a k20 into an eg hatch than what you are proposing. The only way it might work is if there is an adapter.

What about putting a type-R engine and type-S tranny in a base auto? I guess it would be cheaper to trade in my car and get a S hum.. lol
