August Fastrack News (SCCA)

SOLO
------

Street Touring classes:

"Camber bolts may be installed ... Comment: this is to provide an allowance for inexpensive components which are common in the marketplace and provide essentially the same functionality as the camberplates that are currrently allowed."

(Good news for the Ingalls users)...

"Engine mounts may be replaced ..." with lots of restrictions, but still good news for those with or planning motor mounts. Maybe?

"17.3.A should say "a width of 225"" - I think this is new, wasn't the old limit 215?

Street Prepared:
"The following new listings...
Acura RSX (all) -- CSP"

I'm still trying to get an answer on whether the factory front adjust bolts are legal for stock. They're an OEM part and in the service manual, which makes me want to say "legal". But of course I WANT them to be legal so I'm willing to accept I'm wrong. Who's the resident rules nazi?

Andy, have you moved yet? How'd it go?

If they are listed in the FACTORY service manual (like you say...)

And are listed:

SPECIFICALLY by PART NUMBER

AND

as CAMBER CORRECTION or ADJUSTMENT bolts

in the factory manual listing,

Then they are LEGAL...

The Ingalls kit is NOT legal AT ALL right now in DS OR STS, but it WILL be OK in STS as of January 1, 2004

I hope that helps.

Matt: I'm leaving on Monday the 28th, So far, so good: My house is full of boxes right now. The movers will come back tomorrow to take them away...

yeah, I looked over the rules. There's an OE "Adjustment bolt" that is expliticly cited (with illustration and angle variance) in the manual. I think I'll have to hook that up then. RussTypeS claims he can go up to -1.8 with these. I'll have em ready when it's time for azenis next season (Still rubbing off the michelins)

The Acura "crash" bolts are legal. The Ingalls bolts are basically the same thing and as it says, performs essentially the same function - while not providing any extra benefits over the plates (except that they are cheaper/easier to install..) actually I think they have LESS adjustment possible than the plates... so they will be made legal also.

NOT for STOCK, Jeff.... The rules will be unchanged for stock next year: Camber bolts must be listed by part number and use in the Factory manual... the Ingall's kit is NOT OK for DS...

As of 1 Jan 04, the Ingalls kit WILL be STS/STX legal because all crash bolts will be legal in ST...

Even though they serve the same purpose, the Ingalls kit is not from the factory, hence not covered under the DS rules... Right now, ST uses the STOCK rules for crash bolts, therefore technically, only the Acura crash bolts are legal in ST...

As long as it's in the factory manual for that specific purpose, as Andy said. Just depends on which manual. If it's the Helms manual, I believe that is the factory manual for Honda/Acura. If it's some cheezy Haines manual you picked up at Pep Boys, then no can do.

Yes, the one from Helm's is the official Acura manual; that's where I got mine.
