the grill insert either grilltech or grill craft. how do you take out the entire stock grill to put it in so its not in the front. i don't think it looks as clean in the front.

you probably have to take the bumper off and actually dremel the old piece off. attaching it is gonna be a bit rough without the original piece behind it - plus - what if you change ur mind later?

i guess i'll have to get a new bumper haha... i really don't like the acura grill that comes in it stock. i have a plan that i think would look sick instead of the stock one. but my problem is it being attatched. i think i will have to go to a body shop and get it adjusted and painted. because i don't want a body kit i like it the way it is so this is my best option.

Pull the bumper off and take a look, might be able to get the stock stuff out in a clean manner.

the stock girll comes right off with a few screws, you should be able to put the new one right in

I noticed it when i blackedout my headlights, you need to take off the whole front bumper to see

MitchTheBoss

yeah ok that is really good news
do you think it will be all screwed up without the stock one in it. like the paint and holes from the original.

To take off the grill you need to remove the bumper. It is held in by phillips screws.

at the bottom of the stock grill?

mine was held in by those plastic clips that you pop out with a flathead screwdrver.

When I changed my emblem I noticed two screws(+) one on each side. Might be more but that is all I saw.

MitchTheBoss

i don't know it seems that way
all the cars with the deep grills have body kits
all the ones that dont have body kits, have the grill on the outside like a cover sort of

dont worry plenty of people have taken off the grill its really nothing, just those plastic clips and i believe two screws, its really easy, just give it a try

ok, info for some people. on the 02-04 rsx the front grill is somewhat attached to the bumper. the "A" comes out easily as well as the plastic diamond grill that comes with it. although that grill needs to be cut off of the rad cover plastic. the horizontal bar that goes accross the middle is attached to the bumper. the flat black piece that goes along the bottom is also part of the bumper. by cutting that horizontal bar out there will be small missing triangle slices on each side of that bumper piece. i would suggest repairing that and then atatching the grill. hopefully this helps someone else. as it was good information for me.

oh and as for the screws/clips... there are 6 "flathead screwdriver" clips on the rad cover which will pull out that diamond grill. and the grill is also atached to the bumper by two small phillips screws. the "A" is also atached by two small phillips screws.

update for everyone... so it has been a while since i planned on doing this but it is finally done... almost done... i dremelled the horizontal centre piece with the acura symbol off my bumper. i also dremelled the plastic grill out of its frame and painted a new grill black and zip-tied it into the old frame. i like the way it looks but i think i might still get a grill craft/tech grill to clean it up a bit because the gutter gaurd still doesn't look to the best of it's potential. but all in all i like it.

I also just confirmed getting the grilltech grill to finish this off...
I also apologize for the picture quality i had to use my phone cause i lost my camera...:thumbsdow

i am getting my bumper painted on Monday, it's in really rough shape... and when they paint it they are filling in the small triangles...

I congratulate the effort put forth in this project. However, I really don't know if I like the look. It seems like there's a whole in the front-end. Perhaps, the chrome(anything brighter) mesh would look better. + rep

EDIT: Might fit better with blacked-out headlights.

MitchTheBoss
07-12-2007, 02:56 PM
yes i agree..
my next DIY is definetly blacking out my headlights...
i chose the black for that reason i thought with blacked out headlights and black rims (eventually) that the black grill was more appropriate!
