merc prototype inlet and 3" BP install

Finally got around to installing the inlet and 3" BP.

Original Inlet airflow was restricted

Prototype inlet airflow is more direct. This prototype was basically the last one that was used for the production model. I got it for a deal, so I'm not complaining.

mocked up

issue #1: This prototype was designed with an aftermarket TB and I have a stock one. Fixed with some JB weld.

vac leak fixed here... Issue #2 was there was a slight leak between the blower and the prototype inlet even with a new gasket. I just used some permatex to seal it up and all is well.

New inlet didn't allow for the CAI to line up anymore, so I cut it to make a SRI. Turns out I still had to buy SRI as the W/M injection kit was unable to stay mounted at the optimal position to spray

Up next was swapping 3.2" BP to a 3" BP so I can get above 5 psi

Other misc stuff...
Drained catch can... About 1 ounce of oil

fixed leaking reservoir tank

One day driving to work doing datalogs, my car dies. Turns out the alternator died and I was able to replace it through the headlight and not have to pull off the blower

End result

I'm learning how to tune as I didn't have a good experience with my last dyno tune. First page has been updated with the projected #s to date.

I like how the exterior is mostly stock making it seem like it's not rocking anything under the hood. I'm trying to figure out though how you're only making that much power. You have a k24 and a blower. Would expect more than 300 with just that.

Thanks! I prefer to keep it low key to not attract unwanted attention.

Biggest issue for me is heat generated by the blower... I'm not aftercooled, so my intake temps average 150-160* daily driving in 80-85* weather. If I had an aftercooler, it would help with the temps to allow more power.

I'm still sorting out my tune with water meth. Once complete, I'll post an update.

Been a while...

Finally got a chance to clean up the RSX...

Before:

After:

Quick bay detail:

Tune is pretty much completed last month between work and travel. Car pulls hard and the best part is no one knows when they see it

Plan on new headlights and finally mount a set a wheels I procured a year ago

No Sir... One of my ASpecs are bent, so I bought a new set of aftermarket wheels (still BNIB). Then I found one ASpec wheel for sale, so I bought it to replace the bent one so I can keep my set

Hey man, do you have pics of how you relocated the MAP sensor to the manifold?

Sup bro, some of the previous pics show it... If you noticed, I still have my OEM MAP sensor in the TB, but not connected to plug to hole. I have a GM 3 bar MAP sensor ziptied to the AC line down the middle of the bay. I have a hose connected from the GM 3bar to one of the nipples on the JRSC manifold behind the fuel rail. Last was splice the the OEM plug wires to connect the GM 3bar sensor. All electrical wiring covered appropriately.

Thanks for the reply man. I was cleaning my TB and IACV and I was concerned I damaged the MAP sensor so I started to look for an upgrade. I came across how SC applications saw a rerouting of the MAP sensor to the intake manifold, since that seemed to make more sense. Do you think this is something I should do after all the other upgrades I have planned? I still need injectors and the MercRacing tensioner bracket to install, along side my exhaust and finally a tune lol.

Yes, I highly recommend the GM 3bar MAP sensor. You can get them for ~$40 on eBay or Amazon.

GM 12223861 is the model I have. I'd stay away for the super cheap ones on eBay ($8-20). I've read they could be troublesome, but no actual experience. I bought mine sensor and plug for $60 from a verified seller 6 years ago and no issues.

Thanks man! Youíve been invaluable. I just have one more question on injectors. Did you buy them with the plug and play adapter? FICís site has them as an add-on.

Lololol, no worries bro. Yes, I did plug and play adapters to be able to revert back to stock if needed.

Nice! They've been trouble free for me and that's a good price!
