I'm guessing you won't make the weight to power for ST5?

Not PT5. That is going to be a 14.5:1 weight to power class. Maybe PT6 but that isn't until 2019.

I took my NC to Pacific Raceways a while back. I'm still 1.43 sec faster in the RSX there (vs about 3 sec faster in the NC at Ridge Motorsport Park), but I have a laundry list of excuses for the NC . With a few issues sorted out, I think I could at least match the RSX time here. PR is a bit more of a power track than RMP so I don't think the NC will be going faster than the RSX there.

I haven't. But I know the guy pretty well who I bought it from. It won't national championship in nasa 2/3 years ago. The former driver was able to lap this at about 10 seconds faster then the RSX. But I will need quite a bit of seat time to work myself up to that haha

well I knew it'd be faster than the RSX, I was more curious about your thoughts about handling balance, awd vs fwd, power delivery of turbo vs na... stuff like that.

so whens the first track day?

I will report back after the first track day. Was going to be this weekend but my truck needs a bit of maintenance. Will for sure be at gridlife south! Might even make a blog talking about it...Gheyyy. But sounds fun. I've actually never driven an AWD car on track. Really excited about bringing this thing out.

Probably will be more than I want to spend on a spare. Plus you'd have to crack it open and ship the gears and housings seperately to meet the 70 lbs APO weight limit.

So I almost killed my engine at the track 2 days ago.
Long story short: I lost my drain plug on track.

Long story long:
Coming out of the last turn into the main straight, I noticed the car suddenly stopped making power. Car won't go into boost; barely keeping speed.
Engine misfire. The more gas I give, the more the engine stutter.
I missed the track exit because it was located at the beginning of the main straight. So I decided to continue limping to the next back up exit at turn 2.
As I approach the end of the main straight, I notice a big smoke cloud behind my car.
I thought I blown another engine. But oil pressure was still holding at 80psi. Accusump kicks in at 60psi, so the oil pump is still doing fine. I didn't really understand.
Got off the track at the back up exit. Oil still draining onto the ground.
Looked under the car to see where the oil was coming from.

The damn drain plug was missing.

That didn't explain the misfire, but I thought I will start with the known problem first.
Got the drain plug replaced. Refilled the oil.
Car starts on first crank, but still misfiring. AFR gauge shows the car running extremely lean. OBD reader shows fuel trim to be in the +20% range. The ECU was dumping fuel into the engine but is still running lean. No codes either.
I thought I melted a piston or something. Opened the oil cap and tried to smell for fuel. Smells horrible but no fuel. I didn't hear any piston slaps so maybe it wasn't that anyway.
I started checking for exhaust leaks before the O2 sensor to see if my welds failed, but I didn't hear any either.

Suddenly, I noticed damaged insulation on one of the wires for the #4 coil pack.
Unplugged that coil with the engine running. No change in engine tone. I think I found the problem.
Connected a jumper between the two broken ends. Engine ran perfect.

So I ran into two problems within 5 seconds of each other.
That broken ignition coil wire saved my engine.
If that wire didn't break, I would have been at full power when the plug fell out, and might not have noticed the resulting smoke until much later, at which time I could have seized my engine by running it dry.

So after temporarily fixing the wire, I went back out on track on my last session and managed a new personal best.

I've been staring at the Frana dog gear conversion doodad for gears 1-2. Anyone ever use it or know anyone who has? I really don't want to drop my car off to get the trans rebuilt cause it'll be a year before I ever see the car again, and I like the ratios of the Frana kit. Could go M Factory but I don't like their ratios and PPG costs a fortune, and I don't like their ratios. Also, I have no clue if I want to spend $2k on this transmission, but I also don't want to put stock gears back in it if they're just gonna get destroyed again.

Nice! Dem oil temps doe.

In other news, I emailed Frana. I keep trying to find every excuse I can find to convince myself that it's a terrible idea, but everything I find supports going for it. Well, apart from me not wanting to spend any money. But I also miss driving. I'm getting tired of doing nothing but go to work 5 days a week, and then come home to go running, and then play Rainbow Six: Siege, and then go to sleep and repeat the same shit the next day and the day after that.
