I bought an E85 build and I'm in the middle of doing one myself. I bought a JBR built K24 block and I'm tearing into a type S motor for the head. Many of the old build posts either no longer exist or are missing pictures, and over time many have to do things aren't true, or at best are opinion--which is fine as then it may not be mandatory. I'm going 91 pump 99% street use but want a solid build. I'll call 400 the goal.
It's about zero in the garage so no hurry. I'm getting new valves, but don't need overkill springs--not sure about single double and spring rate.
As I have both K24 and Z1 parts, I'm not sure about the oil cooler type s or just run the K24 water pump. My E85 is K24, I guess a water cooler wouldn't hurt, but not having it simplifies a few things.
I'm also half sure on the oil pump. There are kits, there is "the spring" which I have, and suggestions of "better" kits and using an S2k pump.
Weigh in on what you know, I'd appreciate it. For spirited occasional pounding, these things may not matter so much, as it's not going to raced--maybe.
If it were nicer and I had more time, I'd pull the E85 and copy what was done there. It's been bullet proof and extremely drivable--and at 500hp makes me want this 400hp daily to be the same. And yes I've google and read and so on.
I'm also using a slightly smaller turbo, piping and intercooler to have this spool fast. Vroom Vroom
It matters zero if I dislike your reality.
