....not that i'm aware of. not a kit that officially works. i do think there's a base that put in a typeS TB and have gotten it to fit in with some cutting.

Comptech Stage 1 questions

OK I have a few questions about the Comptech Stage 1 Supercharger.
I am a supercharger NOOB so I am sorry for that upfront.

1. How does a supercharger work?

2. I have heard tons of people talk about super chargers, and say you only boost at high RPM's. I thought that the supercharger boosted all the time, and the higher you reved it that more you got is that true?

3. Some one told me you only boost when you floor the gas, because of a blow off valve, is that true?

4. Does it wear your engine out faster?

5. How does it effect your MPG?

Thanks

1) we have roots style superchargers which have blades which blows the air into the intake manifold briven belt the engine belt

2) Kinda true... Superchargers generally make more boost at high rpms and less boost down low. We also have a bypass valve which stops boost when not on the gas...

3) see above

4) Probably, but with good tuning the engine should still last 100K+

5) Since boost is bypassed most of the time, MPG is pretty good... Not a big factor to consider. MPG is really quite good

So, would you consider the stage 1 kit with their ECU reflash a "good" tune? I actually just bought a 2002 type s with a Comptech supercharger and its the base kit with their reflash. Just wanted to know the reliability of their tune or if I should do something else.

Great info. It seems like Comptech's pulley system is better.

whats in your engine kit? just cams and valve train, or is that the stroker motor???

Either way the toda cams are not going to HELP you when you boost, the aggressive NA cams will leak boost...

I have a Comptech stage 2. I had a ECU problem, but got that fixed and took my car in to get tuned. Got 266hp and 169 tq to the wheels. I live in Colorado and just got back from vacation in South Dakota about 3 days ago. Well, since I have been back I noticed a lot of popping coming from the exhaust, even at idle. Well today I was leaving to get something to eat and the engine light came on. Should I go to the tuner of the dealership where I had it installed? Any advice would help.

Exclamation

Does anyone know of any peformance shops or mechanics in New Jersey who specialize in supercharger installations? Specifically the TSX supercharger?

I have the comptech supercharger and i'm having a few issues.. i'm experiencing a chain like sound at low rpms when on the throttle and my coolant is leaking on the water outlet house that attached to the s/c manifold. I want to have these issues corrected asap. Any advice would be appreciated.

So what would be the best combination of CAI, headers, and exhaust system that would best fit a 2006 Type-S Comtech Supercharger?

when you get the stage 1 kit from comptech with the reflash on the ecu, can you still run a cai, rh, and exhaust safely? upgrading to kpro is on the agenda but i want the carb sticker. do you get the carb sticker if you order just the s/c without the tune?
