D.I.Y. CLUTCH INSTALL *pics of every step*

This is to be used along with the http://customdc5.my-php.net/diy/clutch/ guide.
FOR ALL YOU VISUAL LEARNERS OUT THERE LIKE ME

Background: I installed my clutch using the customdc5 guide linked above. While I did the work, I took pictures of every step. This was extremely helpful when putting it all back together. This way, I had a picture of every bolt, and where it went. Thus, I always knew which bolt to use, and which order to put it back in. If you follow the order of the steps in the guide, these pictures should be very helpful. Then work backwards through the pictures to put it back together. Good luck!

There are multiples of a couple pictures if the first one was unclear.
I tried to take a picture of the spot I was about to change, and then a picture of it changed. (ie. pic of the bolt where it was, and then a picture of the bolt removed.) You'll figure it out.

Disclaimer: I am not responsible if you screw up your car or hurt yourself.
READ THIS: http://customdc5.my-php.net/diy/clutch/

Sorry, I'm not including all the instructions, but they're in the above link. Thats the only resource I had when I did the job. Hope this helps!

Start your engines, here we go!
...dont really start your engines, you shouldnt do motor/tranny work with the car running. duh.

The pictures stopped working due to many people downloading them. So I uploaded them to another site. Here is the link.
http://img190.imageshack.us/g/dsc01240rj.jpg/

Within the album, the first pictures are the end of the project. start at the last pictures in the album and work backwards. (it wouldnt let me reverse the order)
Sorry they're not hotlinked, I dont have time to do all that right now, but I got all the pics online again.

Now jack up the whole car as high as you safely can. You're about to get under it.

***These bolts are a PAIN to get loose, so I found a trick to it. as shown in the next picture, there is a notch in the metal where you can wedge a screwdriver between the flywheel and the block. this will keep it from spinning while you loosen the bolts.

Now just work backwards to get it all back together.

And thats it! Now wasn't that a piece of cake?!

If you have questions I'll try to answer them.

That's interesting. I have never thought of dropping the subframe with axles still attached. I actually need to replace my clutch this week. Might give that a shot.

P.S. When pulling the transmission off, you're supposed to "balance it on a jack"... I tried that, it slipped off the jack. Just be ready to hold the entire transmission with one hand and no support.
The whole project took about a week. I worked a few hours on it every day. It would go a lot faster with the pictures. I'd guess its about an 8 hour job. And yes, it would be easier with a lift and a shop, but I'm 20 and dont have any of that. I did get my buddies at pep boys to let me borrow the jacks and jackstands though. So a special thanks goes out to them! I'm looking forward to the stories that get posted here while people are going through the DIY for real.

Thanks. Yeah, I did it pretty ghetto in the driveway and all.
To everyone who attempts, be sure your jackstands are VERY sturdy before ever getting under the car.

If you are removing your exhaust you can leave the sway bar on the subframe too. That's how I do it, axles, sway bar and all.

Nice pics ts

I would, but it really takes forever. I believe the other diy (linked at the top) includes the TQ specs. I spent so long doing the clutch, and so long getting all these pics uploaded and copied into here, I dont have the energy to rewrite all the instructions too.

Thanks. It started as me just being selfish. haha I just knew that if I didnt take pictures, I'd be going through a big pile of bolts with no idea which ones go where. Thus, taking pictures of every bolt. If you're going to do the clutch job, I would recommend you do the same. Even if you dont post the pics for everyone to see, taking pictures will make it so much easier when putting it all back together.
