Good jack info collected. No Harbor Freight stuff here.

I was doing research on good to high end jacks and their countries of origin. Seems only a few companies make jacks in the US. Gray and Milwaukee Hydraulics offer pro level products for everyday shop use. I couldn't find any under $500 lightweight jacks that were US made. I found one under 300 that is assembled in the US. I find it interesting to see what is no longer made in the US these days.

History

1500 dollar race jacks! 2 inch pad height.

800 dollar race jacks! 3 pumps to max lift.

Found one assembled in the USA and under 300.

My Dad passed that Craftsman jack on to me and I have been using it for at least 6 years. Great jack IMO.

My brother's Harbor Freight Special (lightweight 1.5 ton) jack has worked flawlessly for years. If you aren't using it every single day, it hardly seems worth it to spend that much on a jack.

Xinfinity on the craftsman...have a craftsman from the 70's still in working order and a craftsman from 2010...both are great.

Why is there incentive to buy expensive Jack's out of curiousity?

I'd buy an expensive one if I used it daily for multiple cars or if I had something super heavy to lift. The RSX doesn't weigh 3 tons and I've had one of these for 5 years with 0 issue. http://www.harborfreight.com/automot...html-7814.html

I've owned a Norco 71230A for over 13 years now. It's been one of the best low profile jacks I've ever found. Also picked up one of the Costco low profiles early this year just for the hell of it. I'd say its worth the investment as well.

anyone have any knowledge/experience with ACDelco jacks? i bought this 3.5 ton jack from my auto parts store for $170 on sale.huge lifting capacity, but it's over 100 lbs and is not low-profile:

http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/de...ord=floor+jack

i also got the ACDelco jack stands:

http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/de...rd=jack+stands

Haven't found much info on ACDelco jacking equipment on this forum. The stuff I just bought only comes wih a 1 year warranty and I want to buy something that will last a long time, like the above posts claiming Craftsmen jacks that have worked well for decades. ACDelco is a big company with a long history, but do they make quality jacks that'll last much longer than their 1-year warranty?

Thinking I'll get this one. It's very low for my VW R32 and my rsx which is lower. I just don't like the idea of laying under a harbor freight jack, even tho I always put jack stands and wheels under the car for safety.
