dude you are the man this is incredible.

hell i havent done anything with cars my entire life and just got an '05 RSX as my first car not even a month ago.

noticed the huge assed pool of water and found your thread and it works.

if i could do it anyone can.

i was able to order the gaskets for my '05 too its just a different part number the one part is A51 instead of A11 or whatever.

thanks again

Wonderful thread!

I bought a Certified Pre-Owned '06 Type-S 2 months ago and found water under the spare tire today.

Back to the dealership it goes!

No, the two screws under each headlight can be reached from under the rear bumper.

I just did this today; thanks for posting it. I'm also thinking of taping up the area where water runs behind the taillight, just to make sure this doesn't happen again. What a mission to replace these.

So I'm in the middle of this project. Got the left tail off, replaced gasket and back on nice and easy. The right one not so easy. The outside screw underneath the light is rusted to hell and wont come loose after lots of wd-40 and some serious effort. Has anyone taken off the entire bracket that the light sits on? It seems like just two bolts and the whole thing would come off. I'm a little worried about getting it all aligned again if i take that off. Let me know if anyone has tried that. Otherwise either the bracket comes off or the screw gets drilled out.

I just took the trusty grinder out and zipped that screw right off.
I had the same issue but on both sides.

drill the screw out, get a new one. i think itd be much more of a hassle to take out the entire bracket. i mean, thatd probably add a lot more time and stress onto this project.

this is a problem in 06's too. Found a fucking LAKE in my trunk. Gutted the whole thing and that's how it's sitting right now till I get those gaskets...

good write up btw...i'd just say gut the whole trunk to clean up the mess which includes taking the side panels off in the trunk

the bracket isn't that hard to pull out and then re align. Just takes patience. But twis is right though

Yea I think that is the one. Going to drill it out now, hopefully I can figure out what size it is and get to the hardware store. Thanks for the help.
