you'll simply need kpro and the engine to do the swap

the k20a2 would be cheaper, i imagine, because of the cost of kpro for the k20z1

This has been discussed a few times and honestly it's probably just cheaper and wiser to sell your base and buy a Type-S.

have you considered turboing?
i was looking into swapping an a2 or k24a2 into my base or selling for type s but i think im leaning towards turboing

what do you guys think?- for best cost, reliability, and fun factor...
1. - sell base and buy a type s
2. - swap in a k24 or k20a2
3. - turbo

the transmission is not an issue (a lot of type-s's swap to a 5-speed tranny actually). and since the transmission won't need to be swapped, the axles are fine

i also don't believe there will be any issues with sensors, but that i'm not 100% sure of

PrZ has been a little shit in the past
i have a base 5 spd before swaping in a k20-r (full swap) i can tell you that selling the base and geting a type-s is retarded not only you will get raped selling the car for less that you paid and then you will have to put money on top to buy a type-s but the insurance factor will rape you also since the type-s is more expensive to insure

in my case i have a base whit an R swap and i am paying less insurance and still faster than the type-s not to mention it costed me less than selling and buying a new car and all the pain in the ass that comes whit it

if you choose to swap an a2/z1/R you should get the 6 spd tranny also to get the best powerband from the engine the 5 spd would be only good if you going turbo otherwise is crap and it's geared to match the k20a3 which is not for the performance but for economy

anyways pm me if you need any info i would be glad to help

i agree, i did a z1 swap in my base. cheaper insurance, and i personally did not want to sell my car and get a new one (type-s, ect). its a project, make something out of it.

But also go with a2/z1/k24 whatever you feel like doing full swap/ and 6sp tranny.

cheaper to pay for the base and get a 4dr si. My insurance is now $88/month and car payment is $177/month. Also where you live at determines how much insurance you pay, tickets you have, and age and 2dr or 4dr. IF i would have kept the base rsx i would have to pay over $200+ a month for insurance. Im not trying to convince you to get the si but just saying 4dr is cheaper than 2dr "sports coupe" when it comes to car insurance.

The only reason why i wont advise swapping a base is if you live where there is a high theft rate you risk getting your swap stolen or getting into a accident that totals the car. But why swap a new motor when you can easily boost the a3...and be faster than a swapped base rsx...

for me insurance would be the exact same for base and type-s, like $156 a month.

the motor swap sounds legit!

When the base motor takes a dump....hopefully no time soon, not going to rebuild, going to do a motor swap

which motor makes the most hp?

a2/z1/k24 ?????????????????????????

the a3/a2/z1/z3/k20-r are all the same the difference is the internals so they are the same ting to swap

in my opinion, not that it matters or anything, i would go with the k24a2

i have one, enormous difference between it and the k20a3, and its faster than the k20a2

I agree.. a buddy of mine has an all motor k24a2 w/ i/h/e and he keeps up. I have i/h/e/jrsc. Not to mention its much quiter than the z1, and on top of that makes good power at lower rpms, now imagine that engine with a sc which are your plans in the future... Id deff get a k24a2 swap when im done with school.

i think you probably can find the k24a2's cheaper than the k20's, and you can re-use some of your base stuff. if you decide to go with this swap, i made a diy thread about how i did mine

With a k24 would you advise getting a lsd? How necessary is it to get an lsd?

i'd go with k24 though. same hp, more torque, and since the redline is lower, it's more like the a3's zone, so the transmission will basically feel the same, just that you had more power
