Assuming that you're talking about doing a retrofit, if you bought an HID kit from a place like XenonDepot with H1 bulbs, you're not going to be able to use the wiring harness or the bulbs. For projectors, you'll need to get D2S or D2R bulbs.

yeah...what XenonDepot does I believe is rebase the bulb or something like that so it'll fit on an H1 application. If you're looking to do a retrofit, you're going to need D2S bulbs and a different wiring harness.

ouch.. $800 to get them done?

too bad you don't have a 02-04 RSX.. i am in the process of finishing up my other set and selling them as a set (with ballasts& bulbs) for $850 canadian.. that includes a pair of headlights.

well.. you can get projectors/ballasts/bulbs package for $435+shipping.

and I guess shipping would be at most say $50 ... thats almost $500 for projectors/(new ballasts/bulbs). that isn't too bad. $300 to retro and $200 for headlights.. about $1000.

if you shop around you can find great deals on projectors & ballasts/bulbs. will probably be in the $300-400 range.

thanks for the tips...the 750 includes the price for labor as well...if i could supply my own materials, it would be 350 + shipping, which comes around to about what you said.

do you plan on doing another retrofit once the current one is finished? an 05 possibly? heh. im sure many members would like to see one done. your tsx projector retrofit job looks wonderful btw

no problem.

thanks.. took me a few weeks to get it done (took my time).

I actually finished it... but had take the projectors out again (after 2 weeks) to clean one of the lens. did a washermod to the projectors at the same time. so i could have done another set LOL.

i might.. except i live in canada. shipping lights to me/back to you will kill you in duty across the border. otherwise i'd love to get my hands on a set of 05 lights and see what i can do. I am expecting pretty much the same process.

if you are adventerous and can live without driving your car for a few days... do it yourself! hardest part is getting the beam aligned and make sure projectors fit and doesn't hit the headlight lens. (TSX projectors are small enough that you don't need to worry about fitment.. just have to align them properly. it is a bitch).

the price of a retrofit is high if you pay someone else to do it. the reason is that it takes ALOT of effort. it'll take a good 10 hours of work to get a retrofit done for u. remember that labor isn't free, unless you do it yourself.

remember that during the time yer work is getting done, u'll be without headlights hope u have a second car or a second set of headlights

05 Type-S

I recently purchased some TSX projectors to retro my 05 Type-S. Looks like i'll be trying this myself with the help of threads from here and HIDPlanet. Only prob like was said was no lights for a few days. I'm contemplating getting another set of housings but really don't want to pay $274.00 each for them.

buy the projectors off of ebay. tsx projectors generally go for around $200. it was pretty easy to make those projectors straight up and down on the '03 headlights. Then you just have to aim them right once everything it put back on the car.

too bad we're not like the Civic Type-R guys... Civic Euro-R already has TSX projectors in them.... all you have to do is get them imported and mount the headlights. the beam pattern/step is correct as well... just make sure you don't get the UK version or you'll be killing people coming towards you.

you can't use H1 bulbs in OEM projectors because they don't fit H1 bulbs. OEM HID projectors use D2S bulb.
