Question for XD? HID on my Ski-Doo?

What is the difference between the Xenon Deopt Ballast for cars and the one for motorcycles? I was thinking of putting HID's on my ski-doo but i'm not sure if the ballast would be strong enough to handle the varying power of the sled?

Hello Sir,

As per your email:

1) The Motorcycle kits use ballasts that are designed for motorcycle applications. They provide you with approx 6 feet of slack between the bulb and ballast as opposed to the automotive ballasts that only provide you only 1 foot. We have actually had really good success with our product installed on some ski doos:

Oh baby, thanks man, I might have to do this. That Yamaha in your pics is a 4stroke w/ a battery. Mine is a 2 stroke wo/ a battery, will the coil be able to run the ballast? and will I need to add a switch?

hmmmm.. The ballasts will need a constant 12V to run the lights. The kit is designed to plug into your stock headlight harness. Im assuming your headlights use an H4 bulb?

yes its a H4, the system runs off of a 12v 220W magneto. That is my concern, when starting the sled there won't be enough voltage, but after its started it should be fine. But would the low voltage from the start up and stop be too hard on the ballast? You can use my sled for R&D if you would like, just send me a kit

Hey,

I would suggsest taking a look at this forum:

http://www.snowmobileforum.com/forum/index.php

To be on the safe side, I would probably switch the HIDs on after you turn the sled on as if there is insufficient power the lights will not turn on. Once the engine is running, do you have a stable 12V?

I would definitley be interested in working out a deal with you. Drop me an email at info@xenondepot.com for more info.
