1 yr anniversary - 2005 RSX Base QUESTION!

I was rear ended and had to replace the tail light and bulbs but i bought the 925 bulb and it smelled burnt and smoke came out yesterday after i replaced it and turned on the car.. any ideas what it could be? i dont think its the wrong bulb unless im supposed to use a 7440 bulb? Could it be because thats the side where i got hit and i have to check the wiring? I can upload a pic here it goes. And nothing happened to the wiring but maybe the connectors need to be changed since they were in the accident but nothing happened to them.
