Considering like everything needs to be replaced on this DB8, I'm totally down with new and reliable. Speaking of which, I currently hate driving so much that I want to set this DB8 on fire.

No clue what's gonna happen with my back, but I'm going to set up an appointment with a doctor and find out what my options are because I have no desire to wait and find out if my body decides to suck the disc back into my spine.

who's hosting the track day? I'll more likely come in the miata, I have some shifting issues to figure out in the Si.. that and nobody makes track pads for it for some stupid reason...

I must say, driving an old Type R around with my herniated disc fucking sucks. Getting really tempted to sell it for $10k and buy an Accord Type R (TSX kind of Accord).

^ My back hurts a bit after driving my type S as well. But I think it's cause the seat is just really old and doesn't have any padding hardly left.

Can't afford that road tax. 5.0L V12 would be like $1000 a year just in road tax.

At this point in my life, I highly regret having sold the DC5. That car was actually pretty comfortable to be in. Then again, I doubt I even have the strength in my left leg to push that car's retardo stiff clutch in. I have enough problems with the stock clutch on the DB8. Have to wear my safety boots when I drive now because the extra weight and sole height helps.

dude if you're having these sorts of issues why not get a second daily strictly for comfort... auto... soft suspension... non bucket-y seats... then keep your fun car fun...

Cause then I gotta pay road tax for two cars. Only have two parking spots at my apartment anyways, and the shop I rent is pretty full already. Besides, I hate having a boring daily driver, and driving automatics makes me feel dead inside.

There's two CL7s listed for sale on Okinawa. I'm gonna try to test drive one just to see if I like it. I need a more modern car, but I don't want to buy one as I'll quickly remember why I got the DB8 in the first place. The Integra has a really low cost of ownership and everything I want for it can be easily found as an off the shelf solution. Not much of anything is available for the CL7 (which is probably a good thing).

is road tax super expensive in japan?

I prefer to have a focused car for each occasion usually works out better than trying to have a compromised car for both... I guess it doesn't have to be auto, I only said auto cause you said that thing about having the strength in your left leg

It is and it isn't. The main problem is the green tax where cars that are considered old (like 10 years old or something) see a 12% increase. Made sense when it was made as cars that were old then were like 1980s old and those cars didn't age well. Makes no sense when applied in the context of a modern old car. Especially when the K20 is still in production. A 10 year old car today was made in 2008 and those cars still feel like they're new versus a 10 year old car in 1999. 1989 when compared to a car made in 1999 was no comparison.

I would agree with you on the second part, but Japan makes that difficult. Limited parking and registration laws and taxes makes the cost of owning multiple cars add up real quick.

just sold my rsx this past weekend for a house. Down the line I want to get back into a track car but considering 3 options, maybe 4 if my pockets are deep enough. DC2 teggy with hopefully a k20 swap, another DC5, or a s2k, and the MAYBE Civic type R. Whats your pick and why. Although my heart kinda wants to stick with a dc5

Trying to figure out my ride height before I go for an alignment. I'm running 22k rear and 14k front. Any thoughts?

I run 14/24k easy sub 2 minute laps at Buttonwillow you're headed in the right direction.

May I ask your ride height and alignment settings? I don't have the extended (or shortened?) tie rods at.

I just want to get the ride height set so I can bounce around in the car and make sure to hit the ground running in April!

Ride height 24.5 inches from the center of the wheel well in the front 25 inches In the rear should have a slight rake. Should look somewhat like the attached picture.

Camber settings I can’t help you unless you caster plates and tie rods etc. That one you will have to figure out on your own depending on your supporting suspension mods. Is all up to driver preference really.

Oh man, mine is really close to that height as it is. I bought BC Racing coilvoers so I have the camber plates they come with, but I don't think they are as nice/aggressive as Todd's.

Thanks for the height dimensions, I really wanted to just get a good starting point!

Just measured my car from the ground, I'm at 25.5 Front and 26 Rear so not far off at all. Will probably lower it an inchish when I get a moment before taking it in for an alignment.
