shifter bushings. do i need grease?

so i have ordered a comptech ss, and about to order some bushings as soon as paypal gets my money. i remember back in the day there was a bushing install video diy here on clubrsx and dude was putting grease on them(not sure because it was a while ago). the comptech ss also needs grease on a few parts. So my question is which grease should i get and where do i get it? and do the bushings need to be greased? i guess it would tell me on the bushings directions right, but im just inpatient and want to be ready to install asap.

Which bushings are you asking about? The CTSS requires no grease, nor do the shifter housing bushings. The linkage bushings at the transmission should, however.

the shifter bushings replace the stock ones for the stock shifter housing (the 4 spots that the housing bolts into the floor of the car)...no grease needed

For the cable bushings, just use the high-pressure stuff. I have a tub of Mobil-1 red that I use on pretty much everything and freshen up my bushings every so-often. No squeakey...

The Comptech SS installation instructions said to grease them, but I never did on mine and it shifts just fine.

same thing, but with the speedsource bushings. i think they recommend greasing the cable bushings and i never have and it seems fine . i mean, no squeaking and everything feels ok

In theory, you shouldn't have to. Ive had mine for 2+ years and they started to get squeaky, so I just grease them once in a while. It's easy enough to pop them out. Personal preference, really.

ok i hear that. hey i got one more question: should i just install the ss now or wait for my shifter base bushings so that i dont have to disconnect the shifter cables from the shifter twice? or in other words can i install shifter base bushings w/ out taking out the cotter pins and shift cables and stuff?

Do them both at the same time. That way, you won't have to rip the console apart twice. Good luck.
